Servings: 50 bars |
Comments: A rich flavored dessert bar infused with chocolate and hazelnuts, but yet so simple to make! This makes a great afternoon-tea snack. Chill in refrigerator overnight in an airtight container for an even better taste and texture!! |
Ingredients: 1 cup (2 sticks/8 oz/226g) butter, softened 1 cup granulated sugar 1/2 cup packed brown sugar 2 eggs 2 tsp. vanilla extract 2 cups all-purpose flour 1 tsp. baking soda 1/2 tsp. salt 1 1/2 cups hazelnuts, toasted and coarsely chopped 1 cup milk chocolate chips 1 cup semisweet chocolate chips |
Instructions: 1. Line a 17 x 11-inch rimmed baking sheet with parchment paper, set aside. 2. In a large bowl, beat together butter and granulated and brown sugars. Beat in eggs, one at a time; beat in vanilla. In separate bowl, whisk together flour, baking soda and salt; blend into butter mixture. Stir in nuts, milk chocolate chips and semisweet chocolate chips. Refrigerate for 15 minutes. 3. Using a spatula, spread dough evenly in prepared pan. Bake in centre of 375 degree F (190 C) oven until golden brown and still slightly soft in centre, 18-20 minutes. Let cool slightly in pan on rack; cut into bars while warm. Let cool completely before removing from pan. Makes 50 bars. Note: This recipe can be divided in half to make a smaller (25 bars) portion. These were LOVELY - though a little too sweet! 3/4 cup granulated sugar could do the trick!
