Hot Cider Punch

This makes a wonderful beverage to serve to your Thanksgiving guests. Make with or without alcohol, and serve in a festive glass punch bowl and ladle into clear glass punch cups or glass mugs. Serve hot or quite warm.

Ingredients:
2 quarts (2 liters) apple cider
1/2 tsp. ground cinnamon
1/2 tsp. mint leaves
1/4 tsp. ground nutmeg
1/2 cup powdered sugar
3 oranges, sliced
Cloves
1/2 cup apricot brandy or other spirits (optional)

Garnish:
Orange slices (with cloves stuck in them)
Cinnamon sticks
Apple slices

Instructions:
In large saucepan combine cider, cinnamon, mint, nutmeg and sugar. Stick cloves into orange slices and add to cider. Simmer slowly (do not boil). Before serving, add alcohol if desired. Pour into punch bowl and garnish with orange slices (stuck with whole cloves), cinnamon sticks and apple slices.

Tip
Honey or brown sugar may be substituted in recipe for the powdered sugar if needed.

Makes 12-16 servings.
