Servings: Makes 20 large cookies

Comments:
I have to admit, I was given this recipe by a good friend of mine who worked in the restaurant at the Double Tree Hotel, and they are without a doubt the "Best" Chocolate Chip Cookies I've ever had. All of the Double Tree Hotels sell them, and also give them to their customer's when they check-in. But it's so much more satisfying to to make them at home.
These are my favorite cookies. I hope you enjoy them as much as I do. Enjoy with a big glass of milk!.......Diana

Ingredients:
1/2 cup rolled oats
2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
1 1/2 teaspoons baking soda
1 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1 cup (2 sticks/8 oz/226g) butter, softened
3/4 cup brown sugar, packed
3/4 cup granulated sugar
1 1/2 teaspoons vanilla extract
1/2 teaspoon lemon juice
2 eggs
3 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips, (I recommend Guittard's Real Semisweet Chocolate Chips)
1 1/2 cups chopped walnuts (optional)

Instructions:
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F/180 degrees C.

Grind oats in a food processor or blender until fine. Combine the ground oats with the flour, baking soda, salt, and cinnamon in a medium bowl.

Cream together the butter, sugars, vanilla, and lemon juice in another medium bowl with an electric mixer. Add the eggs and mix until smooth.

Stir the dry mixture into the wet mixture and blend well. Add the chocolate chips and nuts to the dough and mix by hand until ingredients are well incorporated.

Spoon rounded 1/4-cup portions onto an ungreased cookie sheet. Place the scoops about 2 inches apart. You don't need to press the dough flat. Bake for 16 to 18 minutes or until cookies are light brown and soft in the middle. Store in a sealed container when cool to keep soft. For the best results, chill the dough overnight in the refrigerator before baking the cookies.

Makes 20 large cookies.

I didn't like the weird cinnamon taste. This would be much better if the cinnamon taste can be replaced by something else.

These cookies rock. I love the fact that using 1/4 cup uses the dough quickly and it takes less time and yet it seems you spent so much time preparing them. They are the best!!!

Absolutely, perfectly delicious. In my opinion, these are the best CC cookies ever. Sometimes, I make the whole recipe in a jelly roll pan and cut them into bars or squares. All I get is rave reviews from anyone who eats them, and now I am baking them to send to our soldiers in Iraq and Afghanistan. The cookies are sturdy and usually arrive unbroken after ten thousand miles of travel. I give these wonderful cookies a perfect score!

I used your delectible CC recipe for my students at the Maternity Home and they couldn't concentrate on their work...they kept coming back for more and a glass of milk...I would love to take credit for the recipe, thank you so much!

These are fabulous! Finally, a really different recipe! I made a double batch (one with nuts, which I prefer) and one without. Take the time to refrigerate dough overnight, it breaks down the oatmeal. Very thick, HUGE cookies....a real commitment to eat one - a dazzler for the eyes of chocolate chip cookie lovers. I will use this recipe forever. By the way, the cinnamon only enhanced the chocolate taste, I tasted no cinnamon and I followed the recipe exactly. Used an ice cream scoop to get the perfect portion onto the cookie sheet. FABULOUS!

I have had minimal success with Chocolate Chip Cookies and I was about to give up until I made the AMAZING cookies! I was so proud of myself I brought some to the neighbors as soon as they were cool enough to plate up. I didn't use the cinnamon, instead I used some Mexican vanilla (has a little something extra to make it special) and they ROCKED!

Fabulous cookies! Refrigerating the dough makes these cookies extra delicious, but if you can't wait the extra day, these are still awesome. I wasn't prepared for how thick they are, super delectable and everyone wants the recipe for these after I serve them!

Okay, I think I've found my match! I've been hunting for a good recipe for several months now as I'm no longer crazy about the Tollhouse version. This recipe is AWESOME and is now our family favorite! You can barely even taste the cinnamon.

Amazing cookie recipe! I added a pinch of nutmeg for that 'surprise' flavor. I also added EXTRA 1/2 tsp of vanilla. My friend couldn't stop eating these cookies! This is my 2nd time baking them this week, and I will be chilling the dough overnight this time.

I am so happy to find this recipe again!!! I lost my recipe card a few months ago. I have made these cookies for my children's classes, parties, etc. Needless to say there are never any left and there are always request for more. I made an healthy alteration: use whole wheat pastry flour, healthy magarine(i.e. Smart Balance tub), and egg substitute. There is a pleasant nutty taste. My taste testers were my children's kindergarten class--no one knew the difference !!!!

Have tried a few chocolate chip cookies recipe. This is the best recipe so far. I added some cocoa powder to give it a more chocolatey taste for the kids. Was great except the cookie looked a bit dark. The kids all gave thumbs up for this! Thanks.

The taste of it is good. I have to reduce the sugar though. I refrigerated it only for 4 hours since I can't wait to bake! I like the taste. Cinnamon is Great!!! But I don't understand why the cookie I made went soft in the middle? (i cool it on a wire rack)

Chocolate chip cookies are great! If you don't like the cinnamon taste, you can leave the cinnamon out. I am allergic to nuts, so I didn't add them. I didn't add cinnamon because of some comments.

This is the best cookie ever. I have made it so many times and it always comes out great. Everyone wants the recipe. I make the recipe exactly the way it is written only I roll my cookies into small balls (size of small marbles). I bake them on parchment paper for 9 to 12 min. but watch your time. The cookies are brown around the edges but chewy in the center. I half the recipe because the whole recipe the way I make it makes about 110 cookies. Everyone who bakes these say they are The Best.
